Spanish Triana “Lebrillo” Ceramic Plate with Painted Deer - 20 in

€1.500

Large hand-thrown Lebrillo with a flat base, a broad open conical form and a thick rounded rim, produced in the celebrated pottery workshops of Triana, Seville. Originally intended as a practical household vessel, the lebrillo has become one of the most recognizable forms of traditional Andalusian ceramics and today is highly appreciated as a decorative wall piece.

This example belongs to the polychrome decorative tradition of Triana, characterized by a rich tin-glazed surface covering nearly the entire interior while leaving the exterior support ring unglazed. The composition is centered around a beautifully hand-painted deer standing within a stylized landscape surrounded by floral motifs. Concentric blue and green bands frame the central scene, while the broad rim is decorated with geometric ornament in the classic Triana palette. The lively brushwork and vibrant colors beautifully illustrate the craftsmanship of Seville’s historic ceramic workshops.

The reverse retains the traditional unglazed terracotta body, while the interior displays a fine craquelure that has naturally developed with age, enhancing the authentic character of the piece.

A striking decorative example of traditional Triana pottery, equally suitable for wall display or as the centerpiece of a Spanish ceramic collection.

We have the largest collection of Lebrillos in Spain.
