French Louis XV Style Hand-Carved Giltwood Wall Mirror with Beveled Glass - Mid-20th Century

€1.660

An elegant French Louis XV style giltwood wall mirror, beautifully hand carved and retaining its original beveled mirror plate. Richly decorated with scrolling acanthus foliage, floral garlands, and Rococo-inspired ornamentation, the frame displays the refined craftsmanship associated with traditional French decorative arts.

The solid wood frame has been entirely carved by hand, as evidenced by the exposed reverse, where the individual carving work remains clearly visible. The warm gilt finish beautifully accentuates the sculptural depth of the ornament while developing a subtle patina that enhances its authentic vintage character.

The original beveled mirror glass is another notable feature, adding both visual depth and a level of craftsmanship that would have required considerably more work than a standard flat mirror. The combination of the richly carved frame and the faceted mirror creates an elegant architectural presence suitable for both traditional and contemporary interiors.

With its balanced proportions, exceptional decorative quality, and timeless French design, this mirror works equally well above a fireplace, console, chest of drawers, or as a striking statement piece in an entrance hall or living room.

Dimensions:

Height: 103 cm (40.55 in)
Width: 72 cm (28.35 in)
Depth: 3 cm (1.18 in)

Condition:
Very good vintage condition. Minor age-related wear to the gilt finish, including light surface rubbing and a few small losses consistent with age and careful use. The original beveled mirror glass remains in excellent condition with no significant issues observed. The frame is structurally sound and ready for display.
