Lidded Ginger Jar – Qing-style dragon motif, cobalt blue, 22 × 21 cm (8.7 × 8.3 in)

€450

This elegant lidded porcelain jar evokes the visual legacy of Qing Dynasty blue-and-white ware. The hand-painted decoration features a stylized dragon in flight, surrounded by a dense ground of auspicious cloud-like scrolls. Executed in deep cobalt blue on a pale glaze, the design reflects traditional Chinese imperial symbolism and balanced symmetry. The piece retains its domed lid with concentric blue rings and matching motifs.

Though inspired by 19th-century Qing forms and techniques, the jar was likely produced in the early mid-20th century, possibly in Jingdezhen, in keeping with the revivalist style popular for both domestic and export use.

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
