Late 19th Century, Victor Saglier for Phénix Silver-Plated Centerpiece Basket with Eagle-Head Handles

€480

An elegant French silver-plated centerpiece basket attributed to Victor Saglier for the Phénix house, Paris, circa 1880–1890. The oval body is framed by finely modeled eagle-head handles and shell-and-palmette appliqués, with a beaded geometric rim and a stepped foot. Indicating a quality thick silver plating typical of late 19th-century Parisian luxury wares associated with Saglier’s workshop. Stylishly neoclassical with hints of early Art Nouveau, it presents beautifully as a table centerpiece or fruit bowl.

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
