Josef Strnact Portrait Vase, Cobalt Blue & Gilt, Bohemia, 13 in

€535

Elegant antique porcelain vase by Josef Strnact, produced in Bohemia at the turn of the 20th century.

Executed in deep cobalt blue glaze with rich hand-applied gilt decoration and a finely painted female portrait medallion in classical style.

The vase features a lidded baluster form with twin handles, raised pedestal base, and elaborate gold ornamentation inspired by late 19th-century Historicism and Rococo Revival design. The hand-painted portrait is framed by ornate gilded cartouches, creating a strong visual focal point.

Please note: the lid shows a visible chip with a hairline crack (clearly shown in the third photo). This is an old, stable defect and does not affect the overall structure or display quality of the piece.

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
