Circa 1900-1930 Chinese Brass Tea Caddy with Engraved Poetry 5,9 in

€340

A beautifully crafted antique Chinese tea caddy, made of brass with silvered engraved panels, dating to the transitional period from late Qing to early Republic (circa 1900-1930).

The hexagonal body stands on six stylized feet and features finely incised floral cartouches and traditional key-fret borders. Each side is decorated with poetic inscriptions, celebrating purity, tea culture, and the Qingming Festival.

The cylindrical lid is decorated with an intricate endless-knot symbol, symbolizing long life and harmony. The base bears the stamped mark 荣昌茗 (Rongchang Ming), referencing the historic tea trade brand.

This container was designed to store refined loose tea and today serves as a highly decorative collector’s piece with strong cultural sentiment. A sophisticated addition to an Asian art interior, a tea connoisseur’s collection, or a refined shelf display.

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
