c.1900 French Louis XVI Revival Marble Top Console Table with Porcelain Medallions - 36.2in

€1.300

Exceptional French console table from the Belle Époque period, circa 1895–1915, executed in the refined Louis XVI Revival style.

This elegant piece features a striking black marble top resting on a richly veneered mahogany structure, decorated with a continuous frieze of hand-painted porcelain medallions framed in finely cast and gilded bronze mounts.

Each porcelain plaque displays delicate floral compositions, inspired by 18th-century Sèvres and Limoges traditions, creating a highly decorative and luxurious visual rhythm along the apron. The table stands on slender fluted legs finished with gilded bronze collars and sabots, giving the piece a light yet architectural presence.

Such console tables were produced for high-end Parisian residences and hôtel particuliers, combining noble materials, porcelain, and bronze in the finest French decorative tradition.

Professional packaging.

The original marble top shows minor edge nicks and areas of surface dullness caused by acid etching (loss of polish from liquids or household products), visible in close-up photos. These do not affect the appearance at normal viewing distance and can be professionally polished if desired. The wooden structure is solid with light surface scratches consistent with age. All porcelain medallions are original and intact. The gilt bronze mounts have been professionally retouched in the past to refresh the original gold tone, a common and acceptable restoration for pieces of this type.

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
