c.1890–1910 French Louis XVI Gilt Bronze Two-Light Wall Sconce

€490

Exceptional late-19th to early-20th-century French Louis XVI gilt bronze wall sconce, featuring a richly cast torch-shaped body with a flame finial, heavy scrolling arms, and elaborate laurel garlands. This impressive piece weighs 2.8 kg, indicating high-quality bronze typical of Belle Époque craftsmanship.

The surface shows beautiful natural patina, slight darkening in recessed areas, and small age-related oxidation spots, consistent with authentic late-19th-century bronze. The gilding remains well preserved with an attractive antique tone.

The sconce retains later vintage wiring and sockets, but the wiring is worn and must be replaced or professionally inspected before use, as it does not meet modern safety standards.

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
