Exceptional antique Japanese cloisonne charger plate dating to the Meiji period, circa 1880–1900.

Decorated on a vivid turquoise-blue ground with an elegant scene of flying cranes among bamboo, flowering peonies, and morning glory blossoms. The design is executed with fine wire cloisons and richly colored enamels, demonstrating the high level of craftsmanship typical of late Meiji export pieces.

The wide border is finely patterned, framing the central composition and enhancing the decorative presence of the piece. Chargers of this size were intended as statement display objects and remain highly desirable for both collectors and interior designers.

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
