c.1880-1895 - Pair of French Longwy-Style Vases on Patinated Bronze Bamboo Mounts, A. Giroux Paris, Portraits of Henri III

€1.900

Rare pair of late 19th-century French vases in the style of Émaux de Longwy, retailed by the prestigious Maison A. Giroux, Paris.

Each vase features a deep cobalt-blue glaze with raised polychrome enamel decoration showing Renaissance-inspired masks, scrolls, and portraits of Henri III (“HENRY III ROI 1580”) and Louise de Lorraine.

Mounted in original patinated bronze “bamboo” frames with intricate openwork rims and sculptural tripod bases in Japonisme taste.

The underside shows a partial paper label consistent with A. Giroux retail pieces and the painted “AG” mark.

Both vases display visible glaze wear and surface abrasions across the body, typical for age, but no structural cracks or restorations. The bronze mounts retain their authentic dark patina with only small traces of oxidation.

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
