c.1825–1835 Thomas Fell Blue Transferware Platter, England, 16.5in

€650

Impressive large blue transferware platter produced by Thomas Fell & Co in Staffordshire, England, circa 1825–1835.

The platter features a finely detailed Oriental landscape scene with pagodas, bridges, boats, trees, and birds in flight, executed in rich cobalt blue on a warm cream ground. The central scene is framed by an elaborate geometric and floral border typical of early 19th-century English transferware.

Large platters of this scale were originally intended for formal table service and today are highly desirable as decorative display pieces, particularly for wall or console presentation.

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
