c.1790–1820 French Rouen Style Faience Plates with Floral Basket, Pair, 9.6in

€360

Decorative pair of antique French faience plates dating to the late 18th – early 19th century, painted in the traditional Rouen style.

Each plate features a hand-painted floral basket at the center, surrounded by an elaborate scrolling border in cobalt blue, ochre, and green tones, with a softly scalloped rim.

Although similar in design, the plates show subtle differences in color intensity and painter’s marks on the reverse, reflecting their hand-crafted nature and slightly different production periods. Such variations are typical of early French faience and add to their authenticity and charm.

These plates were originally produced for decorative and table use and today are highly appreciated as wall display pieces or collector’s items.

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
