19th Century Opaque de Sarreguemines Chinoiserie Plate, Blue & White, France, 12 in

€180

Large antique French opaque earthenware plate produced by Sarreguemines in the second half of the 19th century.

Decorated in a blue and white chinoiserie design, the plate features a stylized bird motif within a central medallion, surrounded by geometric and cloud patterns inspired by Chinese porcelain. The cobalt blue decoration is hand-applied under a clear glaze, creating strong contrast against the creamy white ground.

This type of decorative plate reflects the enduring fascination with Asian art in 19th-century France and was produced both for refined table service and as a decorative interior object.

A characteristic example of Sarreguemines production, combining decorative appeal with historical authenticity.

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
