19th Century Chinese Blue and White Jar – Hand-Painted Landscape Scene, Large 31 cm (12.2 in)

€370

Large 19th-century Chinese blue and white porcelain jar, finely hand-painted in underglaze cobalt with a continuous landscape scene featuring mountains, trees, houses, and small figures crossing bridges.

The decoration is spontaneous and full of movement, typical of provincial kilns of the late Qing dynasty (circa 1850–1900). The cobalt has developed subtle tonal variations giving the scene depth and character.

The glaze shows visible wear and scratches across the surface, especially around the shoulder and body, consistent with age and use.

One side bears an old stabilized crack with visible restoration near the upper rim (as shown). The base is unmarked, with firing spots typical for the period.

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
