19th Century Catalan Blue & White Faience Plate - Medallion Series - Hand Painted - 8.5 in

€310

A charming Catalan tin-glazed ceramic plate featuring a classic radial “medallion” composition, characteristic of traditional Spanish pottery influenced by earlier Dutch and Oriental decorative schemes.

The surface is decorated in cobalt blue with stylized floral motifs arranged within four segmented panels, separated by curved architectural lines. The central medallion echoes the same floral theme, creating a balanced and harmonious composition typical of regional Catalan workshops.

The glaze displays a soft ivory tone with natural irregularities and kiln marks, reflecting authentic handmade production. The slightly uneven form and painterly brushwork further reinforce its artisanal origin.

This type of decoration is associated with historical Catalan ceramic traditions, where local artisans adapted imported visual language into distinctive regional expressions.

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
