Authentic French faience plate from the Nevers region, dating to the second half of the 18th century.
The plate features a charming hand-painted pastoral scene with a fox beneath a grapevine trellis, surrounded by stylized floral and grape motifs. Executed in traditional Nevers polychrome palette with green, yellow, blue, and manganese tones, typical of provincial French faience of the period.
The scalloped rim and lively brushwork reflect the artisanal character of Nevers production, where each piece was individually painted. The absence of a maker’s mark is consistent with 18th-century Nevers ware.
A beautiful decorative and collectible example of French provincial ceramics from the Enlightenment era.
