18th Century Dutch Delft Blue and White Charger

€490

A fine Dutch Delft blue and white charger decorated in cobalt oxide on a tin-glazed earthenware body. The centre is painted with a stylised floral rosette surrounded by four symmetrical floral sprays, while the border is enriched with repeating decorative motifs and scrolling ornament characteristic of traditional Delft pottery.

The balanced composition and restrained palette reflect the enduring influence of Dutch Delft workshops during the eighteenth century, when blue and white ceramics inspired by both European and Asian decorative traditions were highly sought after. The hand-painted decoration displays the slight variations and individuality expected from period Delftware production.

Based on the available photographs, the charger can be attributed to the Dutch Delft tradition of the 18th century. Attribution to a specific factory should be considered provisional unless supported by a clearly identifiable factory mark.

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
