Baroque Engraved Brass Candlestick, First Half of the 18th Century. 7.3 in

€550

A finely proportioned Baroque brass candlestick dating to the first half of the 18th century, distinguished by its elegant architectural silhouette and richly engraved decoration. The faceted octagonal base rises through a baluster-form stem to a hexagonal candle socket, creating a harmonious composition characteristic of Northern European Baroque metalwork.

The entire surface is decorated with hand-engraved scrolling foliage, stylized floral motifs and geometric ornament, reflecting the craftsmanship of the period. Rather than relying on elaborate casting, pieces of this type achieved their decorative appeal through carefully executed engraving, giving each example a subtly individual character. The warm golden patina, accumulated over centuries, enhances the engraved details and testifies to the candlestick’s genuine age.
