An elegant French porcelain amphora vase of exceptional decorative quality, attributed to the late 19th century and inspired by the refined Empire and Neoclassical taste of the early 19th century. Richly decorated with a vibrant coral-red ground, extensive hand-applied gilding, and finely executed mythological scenes, the vase displays the level of craftsmanship associated with high-quality French decorative porcelain.
Each side features a finely hand-painted classical figure within an oval gilt cartouche. One depicts a female figure holding a bunch of grapes and a vine branch, while the other portrays a youthful figure presenting a shallow cup. The composition is complemented by sculptural female figural handles with stylized wings, all executed in porcelain with contrasting matte and burnished gilt decoration, adding remarkable depth and elegance to the design.
The attribution to the late 19th century is based on stylistic and constructional characteristics visible in the piece. While the decoration intentionally recalls earlier French Empire porcelain of the 1820s–1830s, no factory marks are present to support a more precise dating, and an earlier production date cannot be confirmed.
The vase remains in very good antique condition, with no structural damage, cracks, or chips observed. The hand-painted decoration and gilding are well preserved with only light age-related wear. The only notable imperfection is localized wear to the gilded finish on one edge of the square base, clearly shown in the photographs. There may be old manufacturing or restoration traces around one joint, although no structural repair can be confirmed upon inspection.
A highly decorative and impressive French porcelain vase combining strong architectural form, finely painted classical imagery, and rich gilded ornamentation, making it an excellent statement piece for both traditional and contemporary interiors.
