A refined pair of authentic late Victorian English candlesticks, dated 1883 according to the original registration / hallmark research.
These elegant candlesticks embody the celebrated Aesthetic Movement, when British decorative arts embraced Japanese-inspired design, botanical ornament and sophisticated color contrasts.
Each example is crafted in gilt brass and fitted with vivid cobalt blue enamel panels, likely enamel over copper, finely decorated with delicate gilt botanical motifs in the Anglo-Japanese taste.
The pierced square bases, lotus-like drip trays and rich blue enamel columns create a highly decorative and unmistakably 19th century appearance.
A rare surviving pair of smaller-scale Victorian candlesticks, ideal for mantelpiece, desk, cabinet or intimate dining display.

Condition
Good antique condition overall. Age-related wear, surface rubbing, oxidation and patina present. Both examples show minor historical leaning / slight misalignment. Upper candle nozzles and drip pans with light deformation consistent with age and use. Enamel panels remain visually attractive with no major visible losses noted from available inspection.
