Saxe Porcelain Tea Cups & Saucers, Hand Painted Floral, Germany, 5.1 in

€250

Elegant pair of Saxe porcelain tea cups with matching saucers, produced in Saxony, Germany, circa 1860–1880.

The cups bear a blue underglaze mark with a crown above crossed swords, characteristic of Saxon porcelain factories inspired by the Meissen tradition. The saucers are unmarked, which is consistent with production practices of the period.

Each piece is finely hand-painted with vibrant floral bouquets featuring roses, wildflowers, and delicate foliage. The gently scalloped rims are enriched with hand-applied gilding in Rococo taste.

The porcelain is bright white with a glossy glaze, and the painting displays confident brushwork and layered colour typical of high-quality 19th-century German decorative porcelain.

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
