Late 19th Century French Louis XVI Style Marble and Gilt Bronze Mantel Clock, 20.9”

€1.100

An elegant late 19th century French mantel clock executed in the Louis XVI taste, combining richly cast gilt bronze ornamentation with finely veined marble columns and base.

The composition is centered around a suspended circular enamel dial framed by floral garlands and crowned with an elaborate basket overflowing with flowers and foliage. The architectural symmetry and refined proportions give the piece a distinctly Parisian neoclassical character while maintaining a light and decorative appearance.

The clock retains its original enamel dial with delicate hand-painted floral swags and ornate pierced hands. The movement is signed “Emile Coeur Ainé Paris”, while the dial bears the retailer’s inscription “Mont-de-Marsan”.

The marble structure remains exceptionally well preserved, with beautifully matched columns showing minimal visible wear. The gilt bronze elements have been professionally refreshed at some point in their history and now display a warm rose-gold tone that complements the marble particularly well.

The mechanism has been tested over several days. The striking function operates every half hour. The movement is in fully working condition and runs continuously with the pendulum installed, keeping good time.

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
