18th Century, Rare Dutch Delft Charger

€470

A fine 18th c Dutch Polychrome painted delft charger, decorated with vibrantly colored stylized tulips and flowers. The sloped rim is painted with flowers and patterns. The center of the dished charger is painted with a scene of flowers and bulbs, with foliage, and hanging petals and floral buds. Delftware began as a Dutch imitation of Chinese famille decorated porcelain and Japanese Imari. Original delftware came out of potteries in Delft Holland, in the 1600's through the 1700's. After a civil war in China interrupted porcelain exports, delftware flourished as a substitute. Antique polychrome is rarer than blue and white because it was more expensive to make, and therefore less were produced.

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
