Authentic 18th-century French faience plate from Nevers, dating to circa 1760–1790.
The plate is decorated with a charming hand-painted scene featuring birds among flowering plants, executed in the traditional Nevers palette of cobalt blue, yellow, green, and manganese. The lively brushwork and naïve elegance are characteristic of provincial French faience of the late 18th century.
The scalloped rim, soft creamy glaze, and freehand decoration reflect the artisanal nature of Nevers production, where each piece was individually painted. The reverse shows typical kiln marks and glaze bubbles consistent with period manufacture.
A beautiful collector’s piece representing French decorative arts of the Enlightenment era.
