18th Century, Delft Blue & White Lidded Vase with Bird Finial, Netherlands, 14.6 in

€950

Large antique Delftware lidded vase, produced in the Netherlands during the first half of the 18th century.

The vessel is decorated in traditional cobalt blue on a white tin-glazed ground. The front features an elaborate central cartouche with a classical vase motif, floral sprays, and scrolling ornamentation. The body is enriched with raised molded elements and hand-painted decorative details.

The lid is surmounted by a sculptural bird finial, adding strong visual character. This element was restored in the past after losses to part of the body and tail, as documented in the photographs. The underside bears a hand-painted signature or mark in cobalt.

The weight, texture of the ceramic body, and the presence of age-related imperfections confirm its authentic early manufacture.

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
