1880, Moser Gilded Tankard – Amber Panels & Raised Gold, Bohemia

€1.300

An extraordinary and museum-worthy example of Moser’s late 19th-century luxury glassware, this richly decorated tankard embodies the opulence and technical mastery of Bohemian craftsmanship circa 1880. Made in Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad), the piece features a faceted clear glass body with inlaid amber medallions and a spectacular overlay of raised and tooled 24k gold decoration in the Neo-Rococo style.

The elaborately molded handle with internal ribbing and optical twists is characteristic of Moser’s finest hollowware work. The deeply cut facets and heavy gilding place this tankard among the elite presentation pieces, often commissioned or exported to imperial Russia, Austro-Hungarian nobility, or the Ottoman market.

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
