1870s, Having "Double Happiness" Symbol and Foliate Decoration Chinese Blue and White Ginger Jar With Lid

€580

The symbol for double happiness adorns this round tea leaf jar with best wishes for love, companionship and marital bliss. Glazed in the classic blue and white manner, the porcelain jar has a rounded form and flat lid, a traditional shape for jars used to hold Chinese tea leaves or herbal medicines. The large characters for double happiness (囍 shuāngxǐ) are painted on all sides of the jar and surrounded by an allover pattern of trailing vines and orchid blossoms. A simple geometric meander pattern borders the unglazed opening at the neck. Each jar is hand-made

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
