Rare 17th-century Catalan blue and white tin-glazed earthenware plate, produced in Catalonia, Spain.
The plate features a distinctive border decoration composed of bold, short cobalt brushstrokes resembling finger impressions, a defining characteristic of the ditada series. At the center appears a stylized female figure in profile, a known iconographic motif in Catalan ceramic production of the 17th century, documented in museum collections in Barcelona.
This piece exhibits all the hallmarks of early Catalan majolica: expressive hand-painted decoration, uneven earthenware body, rich surface patina, and visible age-related wear consistent with centuries of use.
