1850s, Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Jar with Shou Symbol, Qing Dynasty, 7in

€450

Fine Chinese blue and white porcelain jar dating to the Qing Dynasty, mid-19th century, likely from the Xianfeng to early Tongzhi period (c.1851–1861). The jar is decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with delicate floral scrolls, symbolic motifs, and a prominent Shou (longevity) character at the center.

The porcelain body is notably thin and well-potted, indicating high-quality production. Decorative bands encircle the vessel, including geometric patterns at the rim and stylized petal forms at the lower section. The cobalt shows soft tonal variation typical of Qing period wares.

An original old dealer’s label remains on the surface, referencing Qing Dynasty attribution and mid-19th-century dating, adding historical context to the piece.

Chosen for today, grounded in history.

A well-placed antique does more than decorate a room - it gives it authorship. Against a contemporary interior, older objects introduce texture, balance and a sense of permanence that cannot be replicated by newly made pieces alone.
This is the principle behind the LÜRON selection. We look for works that carry historical character with ease, and that feel as convincing in a Paris apartment as they do in a more modern architectural setting.
